Introduction

Everyone goes through the hardships of life, while it is up to him if  he draws  the best or the worst of it for himself. Even at the risk to shock some of you, to me it was a pleasure what I have lived and I'll keep it in good memories  despite of all the suffering I experienced. For those tests opened me access to a path that allowed me to do what I always wanted to achieve in my life. All these strong emotions and new feelings have incorporated a maximum of inspiration in me that I could bring to the canvas in order to achieve my new status as a painter and sculptor.

It all began with the turmoil, the loneliness and the gentleness that brought me to let go and let my imagination run wild. Proud of the road I traveled, of the knowledge that I could earn during my various travels and through my experiences, I followed my quest to connect these riches, until one of the persons the most precious to me, paved my way to tackle the implementation of my works.

When my Bipolar Disorder occurred, I joined in my studio and reconstructed what I had to live. I drew my strength from my experiences.

My technique is quite original. It all began with the fragility and the destruction of all that I previously possessed. First, quite informally developed,  this technique allowed me to discover the fluidity and texture of colors from which I then created a new materia which had always existed in my imagination. This materia is the signature of my work. It is durable, thready, dynamic, tactile and quick - it followed my career since my youth. It is a resin that I work in several stages, which I sculpt and paint to the canvas to get the unexpected.

With regard to creation I examine the exception and independence. I found a second skin, a revival in what I would call "Filiformism".

Biography

I was born on January 9, 1979 in Perpignan. As a franco-Spanish painter and sculptor I am living in the eastern Pyrenees. My story begins in the heart of my region. As a child I contemplated nature, buttercups and poppies in Catalan colors. One day at school, in front of a mirror, the teacher asked us to make a self-portrait. This aroused in me previously unknown feelings. A mixture of joy, satisfaction and a sense of excitement. Feelings which drove me later to paint over and over again. Even my great-grandfather was a painter, amongst others he painted landscapes on canvas. Through him, I discovered the preciousness of painting. My first encounter with the great Painters was Vincent Van Gogh. He left an impression in my memory which will last forever. I had a good level in visual arts and a passion for history and archeology, especially for excavation. Also the visit of religious buildings was an important source for me. Just as my discovery of minerals, in particular pyrite and fossils. I opened to the history of art and deepened my knowledge, with a particular interest in the painters of the Renaissance. And then there was the fascination with Salvador Dalí and the discovery of Joaquin Sorolla. In my first drawings and my first paintings it is the female body, the portrait and self-portrait, which occupy the biggest part. Tied to it already I devoted my attention to the concept of form; always thought, then materialized, natural forms that, once they've been created developed in all directions, with more and more intensity, towards greater volume and fluidity. Its setting is based on the time passing by. Its development on the power and its strength. I am both classical in conception, as well as modern in the implementation of my works. Jérôme Sorolla
